Payments During COVID-19

Apr 13, 2020

During these challenging times be assured that Western remains focused on protecting the health and safety of our employees and those around us, as well as continuing to serve our members and agents. Western is financially strong and stable and since 1897 we have been here to help our members through difficult times.

We encourage members to continue to make payments on their life insurance certificates, however, we understand the financial hardship that is being felt by many during this challenging time. If you are affected by COVID-19 and are having difficulty making payments on your Western certificate, you can contact our Member Services department at 1-877-935-2467 to discuss a payment plan.

COVID-19 Fraternal Programs

May 6, 2020

The coronavirus pandemic has created unprecedented challenges for many of our members and communities. To help address those challenges, Western has created two new programs and expanded another to give back.

Expanded Members in Action Program

We are expanding our Members in Action program to give each lodge one additional Members in Action per lodge to do COVID related activities or donations. We want to help the members with these donations, such as making masks, head bands, feeding heroes, buying gloves or other personal protective gear, or any other donations needed in your community.

Any lodge that has already donated items like this can receive the $250 of Members in Action funds by contacting Kelsey Logan at klogan@wflains.org. This additional Members in Action is available through the end of the year. You can also use the Members in Action form below to apply. No receipts will be required, but as always, we hope to see photos of our members in action!

Donating $25,000 to local food pantries in our member communities

Each year, our members lead the way with donations to food pantries and food banks in their communities. With the threat of food insecurity in our lodge communities, Western will be donating $250 to each of our lodge’s preferred food banks.

Lodges can submit one name through the link below of a local food pantry/food bank that Western will donate $250 towards. Submissions are due by June 5th. Western will send the donations directly to the organization to comply with social distancing requirements. If no organization is submitted, a donation will be given in the name of the lodge to Feeding America.

Donating $7,000 locally to COVID-19 relief programs

We know each district has its own needs and that’s why we are allocating $1,000 to each of our seven district directors to donate to COVID relief efforts. As members, if you have suggestions where the donations should go, make sure to contact your district director.

Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act

May 1, 2020

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) is a bill that was passed to help Americans in many ways due to the downturn in the economy set off by the Coronavirus pandemic. This bill is over 1,000 pages of text and details funding, loans, and tax relief for individuals and businesses. The act also includes changes that will impact retirees’ retirement plan contributions, and distributions for 2020.

Members with traditional IRA accounts held in Western Fraternal Life’s annuity products should be aware of changes to contribution deadlines and required minimum distributions.

How Western Fraternal Life is Responding to COVID-19 Situation

Mar 18, 2020

During these challenging times be assured that Western remains focused on protecting the health and safety of our employees while continuing to service our members and support our agents. We would like to let our members and agents know that our office remains open during our regular business schedule.  We are encouraging our employees to work from home, but will also have a core staff in the Home Office to complete essential duties, such as mailing out death claim benefits and new policies, etc.  We are pleased to report that our business continuity plan in place is working and there has not been an interruption in service for our Western Fraternal Life members or agents.

As a reminder, we are asking that members and agents refrain from coming to the Home Office until further notice. If you need to deliver anything to the office, we ask that you leave the item in the vestibule.

Communication is key. We are monitoring this developing situation closely and are committed to keeping you informed. We'll continue to post updates as this situation evolves.

We wish everyone the best of health and want to assure our members and agents that Western Fraternal Life is ready to assist, especially during these difficult times.

Lodge Meetings and Events Cancelled

Mar 17, 2020

As the information we are receiving is changing rapidly, so are our recommendations. For the health and safety of our members, we are now advising all lodges to cancel all upcoming lodge meetings and events until further notice and until your local area has been cleared to continue in-person gatherings.

In-person delegate meetings have also been cancelled. By the end of this week, delegates will receive additional details regarding the new virtual meetings, including dates, times and instructions on how to participate. Meetings will take place over the phone with an option to use video if you have access to a computer with internet connection.
