A benefit was held in memory of the late Robert (Bob) Connot on July 25 in Winner, SD. Bob was a very influential member of the community and of his lodge, Winner No. 237. He was married to Kara Connot and had five children. Bob worked for the Tripp County Sheriff's department and then at the Unified Judicial Services as a Court Service Officer. He used his profession to positively impact the lives of many at-risk youth. Bob fell in love with sports and was a blogger, web-caster, manager of the softball team, little league commissioner, founder of the NCAA bracket challenge, and Winner Warrior historian. He left behind a legacy as a loving family man and friend.
Members of No. 237 decided to help with the benefit for Bob and used Community Matching Funds through Western to further help contribute to the Connot family after their loss.
Members helped organize the benefit, donated baked goods, donated auction items, and helped out the day of the benefit. The benefit was in two parts: a basketball camp and benefit supper/auction. The lodge donated over $1,000 to contribute toward over $30,000 raised in the community. All proceeds went to the Connot family.
