Cedar Rapids area lodges held a joint Join Hands Day project on May 13 at the Annex. No. 423 organized the Kids Against Hunger event and were joined by several Iowa lodges. Volunteers packed food to reduce the number of hungry children in the US and feed starving children throughout the world.
Members celebrated Join Hands Day on May 6. We cleaned Killian’s Cemetery with the North Bend Boy Scouts.
Our group of eight children and adults packed meals at Feed My Starving Children. The lodge donated $100 to the organization, plus individuals made their own donations.
Our Join Hands Day activity was held on May 4. Members teamed up with the kindergarten class at St. Mary’s School to make and distribute May baskets to the residents at Grandview Independent and Assisted Living Center.
For Join Hands Day, we donated money towards flowers and worked with Novy Munden 4-H to plant them. We also provided refreshments afterward.
The Mishicot Scouts joined with members for a 2.5 hour shift at a food pantry in Two Rivers, WI. The food was collected by mail carriers, then we sorted the items by food group and stocked shelves. About 50 youth and adults worked together for this project.
Members and children from New Zion Presbyterian Church made cards for the residents of Norfolk Veteran’s Home for our Join Hands Day project.
We partnered with the Glenville-Emmons Softball Team for our Join Hands Day project, where we placed flags on veteran's graves.
We made caps for the homeless with a 4-H group for Join Hands Day.
For Join Hands Day, we had the Q125 committee install and secure the new benches we purchased around Lynch. We also painted the ceiling in the entry way of the Lynch Community Hall on May 5.
Join Hands Day was held May 5 at the home of Carly, Cally, and Caden Schmid. Eight youth from Bellwood School, four lodge members, two No. 9 lodge members, and one guest decorate sacks containing candy, crackers, and cookies for the residents of St. Joseph’s Court. We treated the group to hot dogs, chips, cookies, and drinks afterwards.
Members joined with Tabor 4-H Pioneers in picking up newspapers and aluminum cans. The 4-H then takes the collection to Yankton, SD for collection of funds.
Members and youth cleaned the grounds and windbreak area at the Saline County Museum. Members trimmed trees and raked.
Members joined with Bison Lone Star Rangers 4-H Club to deliver May baskets to seniors in the Bison and Timken areas.
Members partnered with the 4-H and school students for Join Hands Day.
Canby members and Marble Alta-Vista 4-H Club joined on April 22 to clean the Bohemian Cemetery.
Members met at Maribel Caves on May 13 at 10 a.m. and cleaned the park for Join Hands Day. There were 40 people in attendance all together.
No. 127's Join Hands Project was the annual From the Heart Fundraiser that was held on May 5 and 6. From the Heart is an Owatonna community fundraiser where five cancer patients receive all the funds.
Stanley Evangelical Free Church and World out Reach Missions joined with our lodge for Join Hands Day.
Members worked with high school students to clean three parks, Vets, Riverside, and Zander Park.
On May 12, three members and a YELL! member guided a Join Hands Day project with 16 Mosinee Head Start students. The students decorated flower pots with stickers and planted marigolds. The students were treated to ice cream and animal crackers after the activity.
Members joined with Decatur County Head Start on May 10 for Join Hands Day to plant flowers in the front of Good Samaritan Home in Oberlin. A total of 18 children and 34 adults participated. Treat bags were distributed to the children for helping.
On May 7, members and a youth group made May Day baskets and took them to the Mahnomen Nursing Home and Assisted Living center for Join Hands Day.
On May 6, six adult members and four YELL! youth visited the Life Care Nursing Home in Thief River Falls, MN for Join Hands Day. The group visited with residents, hosted a Bingo party with prizes, and furnished/served lunch.
For Join Hands Day, 33 members and friends (adult and YELL! youth) gathered to make items for hospice patients. Volunteers sewed, ironed, stuffed neck and hand pillows, and put gift tags on items. In the weeks before the event, seniors from Ashley High School, Alt-Ed students from Ovid Elsie Schools, and members of Delta Kappa Gamma cut out material for clothing protectors, lap robes, catheter bag covers, neck pillows, hand pillows, and hand contracture carrots.
We invited students from the Student Learning Center East Shiawassee RESD for lunch on April 27. The students took part in Join Hands Day and Earth Day events. We planted flowers and danced to music.
Cathy Valenta and Vern Rompot purchased flowers that we planted at St. Wenceslaus Church on May 13 for Join Hands Day. Two Girl Scouts joined us, along with their leaders.
Members joined CSA to work with children and clean the yard, pull weeds, and plant a herb garden on May 6 for Join Hands Day. We donated gloves to the children for this project. We also planted flowers and cleaned and organized the library.
Members helped Boy Scout #56 organize their bake sale and brought baked goods and jams on May 6 for Join Hands Day.
Join Hands Day was celebrated on April 29. We joined with youth of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church to feed the homeless and needy in the area.
Volunteers met at Holy Rosary School in Casco on April 20 to plant flowers with the students for Join Hands Day. We all wore our new Western shirts and looked real sharp. The students enjoyed the planting for Mother’s Day.
Twenty-five lodge and YELL! members participated in a litter pick-up for Join Hands Day on April 3.
Members helped with Girls on the Run for Join Hands Day on May 6. We also participated in Kids Against Hunger on May 13.

Members and YELL! kids joined with Knights of Columbus, St. Patrick’s School children, residents of Mahoney Manor, and grandchildren on May 6 for Join Hands Day. We weeded, transplanted flowers, planted new flowers and plants, and prepared grounds. We provided juice, coffee, and rolls.
For Join Hands Day, members worked with Clear Creek Elementary kids and their parents. We cleaned up flower beds and planted new flowers.
We joined with CCD youth to decorate spring bags for the Mid-Nebraska Clients. We filled the bags with treats and delivered them that afternoon. Members served pizza and beverages to those who helped with the project.
