Brenda Jacobs presents check to the Scott family for medical expenses.

Nine-year-old James Scott suffered from Gelastic seizures, and his family needed help to cover the costs of his specialized medical care. Members of City Point No. 408 (City Point, WI) organized a grilled chicken dinner fundraiser for the public. Using Community Matching Funds through Western Fraternal Life and the profits of the fundraiser, No. 408 was able to make a significant donation to the Scott family.

The dinner included a basket raffle and refreshment stand. Sixteen members of No. 408 spent ten hours serving food and selling tickets at the dinner.

The Community Matching Funds were directly given to the family. Each year, District Directors of Western are provided $500 to disburse to lodges that participate in a fundraiser for a worthy cause in their community.
