Community Matching Funds from Western Fraternal Life provides up to $500 to lodges who participate in a fundraiser for a worthy cause in their community. Lodges get involved in an active fundraiser, and the money they raise is matched by Western. Recently, two lodges used Community Matching Funds to benefit a swimming pool and playground.
The Village of Lynch Swimming Pool was in need of a new liner, chemical system, and filtration system. Members of No. 56, Lynch, NE organized a community meal at the park during the Junefest celebration on June 17. Members grilled hamburgers and hotdogs. Other activities included bagging and selling popcorn, helping children sign-up for a free bike giveaway, working a sandpile, and cleaning up. This event helped raise over $3,000 dollars. An additional $500 was donated to the swimming pool by Western's Home Office through the Community Matching Funds Program.
Member Kayla Horner and others near Camanche, IA joined together to organize and participate in a community-wide color run on April 14. The run raised money for a new playground at Camanche Elementary School. Participants enjoyed running with colorful powders, and then could enjoy a raffle, food trucks, and a DJ afterward. The community raised $6,000 total for the playground, and an additional $500 was given by Western's Home Office through the Community Matching Funds Program.
