Casino trip participants gather in front of the bus.

For the last 20 years, members of No. 127 in Owatonna, MN have been taking a fun bus trip to a casino. This year, their trip was on April 12 and 13 to the Jackpot Junction Casino in Morton, MN.

Member Deb Burnham is the bus trip organizer. She plans for the event to occur in either March or April every year. Not only does she plan out the details of the bus and casino trip, but she plans for games and activities to do on the bus. She does a horse race game, Bingo, and raffles with donations that go to the MN Scholarship Fund. No. 127 Correspondent Kim Stursa commented, “We appreciate the hard work that Deb puts in.” There are plenty of treats and beverages to enjoy as well.

At the casino, members enjoy a variety of activities. They reserve a party room for food, entertainment, and socializing, as well as allowing everyone to explore on their own and stay for the night. They enjoy socializing, and always look forward to the next bus trip. Stursa added, “The casino trip keeps members engaged.” The lodge also invites non-members, and some have become members after getting an opportunity like this.

The lodge takes having fun seriously. They have an entertainment coordinator, Eunice Meixner, who plans for fun activities after every meeting. It is usually a card game, dice, Bingo, or some other game with a prize of some kind.
