The following charitable causes were able to use Western's Community Matching Funds program in the first months of 2018. Causes included folding chairs in a community hall in Malin, OR, sending kids to camp near Protivin, IA, and a walk in Cedar Rapids, IA for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Since 2000, Western has awarded $356,000 in scholarships to its members. This year, the American Heart Association asked volunteers from around the country to celebrate by knitting and crocheting red hats for babies born at participating hospitals. They called the campaign Little Hats, Big Hearts™ to empower mothers and children to live heart-healthy lives.
