On February 24, 2020, Western announced its intent to consolidate with National Mutual Benefit (NMB) pending a vote by our 2019 Convention delegates, and we are excited to announce that delegates voted in favor of the consolidation! The vote was 110 votes in favor out of a total of 159 votes received (69.1%). Ninety percent of delegates voted. Joining forces with another similar fraternal will open up exciting possibilities for the future of our organization, from new fraternal programs to strategic growth opportunities in marketing, sales, and technology.
Together, we will become a stronger fraternal life insurance company that is larger, more secure, and able to have a greater impact on our members’ lives and communities. The newly combined organization will have more than 64,000 members across the Midwest, Western and Southern regions of the United States, and approximately $2 billion of life insurance and annuities in force.
As a combined organization, we will have more funds to support dividends and fraternal programs, which make a big impact in your communities. We will also be better able to withstand whatever the future may bring.
We will become a new, combined organization on January 1, 2021, and we will have a new company name! During this exciting transitional time, we remain focused on providing our members with continued friendly and reliable service, and we will provide you with updates as we move forward.
The next step will be for the delegates to vote for four directors that will be on the Board of the new organization. Watch for more information in June, with a planned vote in July.
The Board of Directors thank you for your dedication to Western and the delegate’s participation in this important vote.
