Common Bond

Western Fraternal Life Association was founded on the principles of mutual aid, to associate its members and enable them to support each other and their communities in programs of:

  • Fraternal and benevolent activities through the lodge system;
  • Encouragement, cultivation and preservation of learning and study of Czech and Slovak history, culture, language, and traditions;
  • Insurance and other programs to help enable members and their dependents to achieve financial security; and
  • Other social, educational, intellectual, patriotic and civic undertakings.

The Association continues to carry out its purposes in grateful and appreciative memory of the vision and pioneer spirit of the many immigrants and their descendants who founded and maintained the Association.

All Association members are united by a common bond. This is demonstrated in support for the fraternal ideals of mutual aid, benevolence, and community service and in support of the specific mission and purposes of the Association.

Individuals wishing to become members of the Association must apply for membership and confirm their common bond and desire to join together with Association members. Member credentials are reviewed and a request for admission is submitted to the local lodge. Members are admitted into membership in their local lodge in accordance with the ritual of the Association.

What is a fraternal benefit society?

Western Fraternal Life Association is a not-for-profit financial services provider that uses its profits to give back to our members in order to better the communities in which they live. We provide financial security through a variety of life insurance and annuity products, as well as providing members the opportunity to carry out charitable, educational, and volunteer initiatives.

The Association is a good steward of our members’ money and protects families from economic hardship. WFLA serves as an effective and efficient volunteer network making important contributions and providing services in the communities where our members live and work. For more than a century, wfla has given back revenues to members and their communities, not Wall Street investors. Today, our membership is open to anyone supportive of our shared values.
