For our January meeting, we met at LifeCare Manor in Greenbush. Cathy Erickson provided the entertainment and members served a variety of kolache to residents and guests. A fun afternoon was held with dancing and reminiscing about Czech heritage.
Members met on January 12 at Cathy Erickson’s home. The election of officers was held with officers remaining the same.
Thank-you cards were read from Gladys Thompson, Trails for Treatments, and the Greenbush Care Center for the donations.
We will be hosting the District 1 Meeting on April 4 with registration beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Virgil Erickson farm.
Audit committee consisted of Vivian Peterson, Donnie Thompson, and Gladys Thompson. Our lodge has gotten enough points this past year to be given the Shining Star Award.
Cathy will be entertaining at the LifeCare home in Greenbush soon and our lodge will be serving refreshments.
The State Meeting for June was also discussed.
Members met for their appreciation banquet and Christmas party on November 23. Prize winners were Betty Loiland, John Kruta, and Ron Johnson. Youth members all received gift cards to McDonalds and Dairy Queen.
Donations were voted on for the year. They will go to Minnesota Scholarship, Sunshine House in Grand Forks, Trails for Treatments, Salvation Army, and the activities department in Greenbush Care Center.
A thank-you card was received from the Kurta family for the gift in memory of Pat.
We discussed building or purchasing a new outhouse for the lodge hall. Ted Kurta will check into prices and let us know.
Cathy Erickson will have a card party/meeting at her home in January.
Members have been donating magazines and puzzles to nursing homes, and clothing and other items to fire victims.
Members held a meeting at their annual bake sale and farmer’s market on the second Sunday of September. Our youth giveaway was also held that day with Lindsay Lorenson and Ryker Burkel winning our two Wal-Mart gift cards. A huge thank-you was given to all members who donated items for our sale and to everyone who worked during the day.
We will have our appreciation dinner at the Nordheim Café in Karlstad on November 24.
Our YELL! members had fun selling bottled water at the Threshing Bee and donated their money back to the lodge. They were also in the parade and worked at the Blacksmith Shop.
Our new t-shirts were passed out. Youth were collecting school supplies for local banks and members have been donating blood and serving at blood drives.
Members held a short meeting at the close of our District Meeting on April 13 at the Red Apple Café in Mahnomen.
We made baskets to deliver to Life Care Manor in Greenbush for employees who worked over Easter weekend. Baked items, fruit, and other treats were donated by members.
YELL! member Alyssa Kilen, along with Joy Gust and Marvel Pesek, made Easter baskets for Life Care Nursing Home.
We discussed lists of items to collect for the Sunshine Hospitality Home in Grand Forks. Members will visit in May for Join Hands Day.
Cathy Erikson entertained at Life Care on April 26 and the lodge furnished kolache.
Members met on March 30 at the Royal Manor, a senior citizen residence in Middle River, MN. We had a meeting with supper to follow for all the residents and guests. A fun evening was held with visiting, playing cards, and other games.
Discussion was held on our District Meeting, which was held April 13 with No. 168 hosting.
Information was passed out for items to be collected for the Sunshine House in Grand Forks when we visit in May for Join Hands Day.
Members decided to make an Easter basket for the nurses who are working the holiday weekend at Life Care Manor in Greenbush. Gail and Marvel will be in charge of organizing this.
We have one 75-year member, Joe Biskup, who will be honored at our May meeting.

Betty Loiland, Darlene Thompson, and Gladys Thompson were elected to the Audit Committee, and the treasurer’s report was audited for the year. It was decided to keep the same officers as last year.
We decided to visit the Sunshine Home in Grand Forks for our Join Hands Day project this year.
President Cathy Erickson and others entertained at the care center in Thief River Falls on New Year’s Day and also served treats to residents.
Members held their annual appreciation for members on November 18 at the Nordheim Café in Karlstad. After a buffet meal, a short meeting was held.
We read a thank-you note from the Fred Biskup family for the memorial. A thank-you was given to all members who have been working on our lodge hall. Pictures were shared with the huge improvement.
Monetary donations were given to Maxine Olson and Richard Kruta.
Congratulations to YELL! members Jake and Brooke Fredrickson for winning prizes in the Western Photo Contest.
Donations were given to the MN Scholarship Fund, Trails for Treatment, Sunshine House, and two local food shelves.
President Cathy invited us to her house in January for a meeting and card party.
Members held their annual bake and craft sale at the Northland Threshing Bee in September. Our YELL! group had a fundraiser the same day and donated the money they raised to our lodge treasurer. A short meeting was held at the sale.
We ordered a Western banner to use at our activities.
Congratulations to two of our YELL! members, Brooke and Jake Fredrickson, for placing in Western’s Art Contest.
Members were given new shirts with the Western logo.
We entertained and served lunch at the Greenbush Care Center this month.
Members met at the hall for our annual Memorial Day picnic on May 28. Some of the YELL! members came early and helped clean the hall and prepare the tables for our meal.
The State Meeting was held in Hopkins on June 23. Members were encouraged to attend and the lodge paid registration.
A monetary gift was accepted by the lodge from the Burda family in memory of Frank. We are grateful for the donation.
Members helped clean at the cemetery this past week. Vivian Peterson has been selling poppies for the VFW. Marcella Gust donated items to the Violence Intervention. Other members have been donating time to their local churches to make quilts. Can tabs were collected.
Vice President Jodi Davey presented 50-year pins to Tony and Marcella Gust.
Prayers were asked for members in need.
Musical entertainment was supplied by the Ellefson family. We honored members of our lodge who had served in the military, including Tony Gust, Ron Johnson, Ted Kruta, Joe Burian, and Wes Pesek.
Members helped serve at a local auction sale in June.
Members met after the District Meeting on April 14. We decided to make May baskets for the residents at the Group Home in Thief River Falls for Join Hands Day. The YELL! members will meet and put the baskets together with donations from members.
Thank you to the members who donated bars and ice cream for residents at Green Leaf Senior Center last week, and to Cathy for the lively Polka music.
Donation ideas for the year were discussed. Next meeting will be after our ditch cleaning in a couple weeks, weather permitting.
