Members held the annual Christmas party on December 15 at the lodge hall. A large crowd, including members, families, and guests, attended the event. We had a potluck with all items furnished. L&L Advisors, from Western, provided the turkey and ham. Members brought an assortment of dishes.
After the meal, a holiday gift/cake walk was held, followed by several games of Bingo. We furnished holiday prizes for the cake walk and Bingo.
A gift exchange was held and youth helped pass out the gifts. Apples and oranges were handed out to everyone. A drawing for two youth and two adult Christmas prizes were held. This was provided by the hall.
Holiday music was played throughout the evening.
A collection of canned food items were brought and delivered to the local food bank.
The hall was beautifully decorated.
Jerod Miller, Cathy Newland, and Roger and Betty Miller served on the committee for the holiday celebration.
We held our first meeting of 2018 at the Bohemian Hall. The officers were present. A report of the Christmas dance was given.
In February, we decided not to have an anniversary party in March, but rather a lodge party on Memorial Day weekend for 50 and 75-year members.
On March 18, we met and discussed the State Meeting. Catherine Newland asked for the use of the hall on April 20 through 22 for the Hunting with Veterans event. We decided on plans for Memorial Day weekend.
We met on April 15 and followed up on the State Meeting and Hunting with Veterans. Betty sent letters to 50 and 75-year members.
On May 20, we met to discuss the success of Hunting with Veterans. Lodge and area youth assisted with the event, serving as guides and getting things set up. Roger and Betty reported on the State Meeting. They wish to thank No. 153 for hosting and for the good time.
Members met June 17. A report was made about Memorial Day activities. An open-house was sponsored at the Bohemian Hall with cake and refreshments for the public. Following, a party was held at 6 p.m. with a potluck. We honored 50 and 75-year members. David Zigler and Troy Boucek were presented with 50-year pins. We then followed with a sweets walk and Bingo. Thank you to Catherine for her work on the event.
Adults and youth, along with folks in the community, gathered at the Bohemian National Cemetery and First Creek Cemetery to place flowers on unmarked graves.
A request was made to use the Bohemian Hall for a birthday party, the community Bohemian reunion, the cemetery district annual meeting, and state township meeting.
Members met on July 16. The cemetery board held its annual meeting at the Bohemian Hall. A funeral dinner was held for Maxim McKain. The lodge provided meat and members brought desserts and salads they prepared. Discussion was held on various fundraising ideas and other topics.
