On June 29, we enjoyed a chicken dinner at the Table Rock Senior Center. Afterwards, they sponsored Bingo to a large crowd with a garden party. Special hats were awarded as prizes, which was fun for all there.
Our lodge bought a brick with our lodge name for the Cancer Memorial Garden at Humboldt.
There is a fund to raise money for Madison Plager, who is deaf and legally blind, so she can go the Iowa School for the deaf. We donated money to the fund. The check was given to her grandma, Sput Turnbull, manager of the Table Rock Senior Center. Since we donated there, it was decided to buy the brick later in the year when we have more funds coming in.
The lodge co-sponsored a watermelon booth at the Pawnee County Fair on July 5 with a free-will donation taken.
It was requested that the lodge play Bingo on the third Wednesday of the month.
Members met at the Table Rock Senior Center. Elsie Tomek turned in coupons for education that she had collected.
Members discussed the District Meeting held April 29. Treasurer Deb paid rent to the Development Corporation. She also bought meal tickets at the Senior Center and gift certificates at Dens Country Meats for prizes at the District Meeting.
Howard Blecha is feeling much better at home after being sick.
Members met on February 28 for a lunch at the senior center. Following lunch, we hosted a Bingo beach party with leis and hurricane drinking glasses with umbrellas.
The Blecha’s hosted their lambing with the Pawnee City Preschool and Table Rock Head Start students on January 29 and 31. We made a donation to Garrison Droge as he recovers from heart surgery.
The District 2 Meeting is 2 p.m. on April 29 at the Senior Center with Bob, Fran, Larry, and Elaine Blecha showing slides of their trip to the Czech Republic. Prizes and lunch will follow.
At Table Rock Day, members helped register children for the two bikes we gave away. Kylynn Tyler helped with the game we sponsored. We gave money to the games for prizes. Other members rode a float pulled by an old Oliver tractor.
Members made a monetary donation to the Heart Fund Association. Howard and Deb gave out candy at the Pawnee County Fair. We raised money for the Ag Society to repair the exhibit building as well.
Members discussed decorating a Christmas tree for Christmas Tree Lane at the exhibit building to help raise money.
We were reminded to collect box tops and coupons to turn in at our Bingo day.
President Howard and the activities director took two buses of residents to see the former Reno Inn and other locations. Howard told them about the Luthy Farm with the first mill and also a saw mill.
On October 15, the Rock School (recently refurbished) was dedicated with a large crowd attending. President Howard gave a school history followed by an adult spelling bee. Homemade ice cream was enjoyed.
Our lodge offers sympathy to Terry Hynek’s family for losing his parents.
We co-sponsored the Kid’s Karnival, along with the Table Rock Community Club. Members gave a monetary donation, prizes, Western goody bags, and provided two bicycles to win. We also manned prize and registration tables, as well as helped run games.
A large group gathered on June 28 for Bingo. There were prizes for our young members who attended and helped.
Howard Blecha would like to take residents of Colonial Nursing Home to local historical places, such as the Pleasant Valley District 32 School.
Table Rock Day was discussed. More volunteers are needed for children’s games. We are sponsoring again. We need help registering kids for the bike giveaway.
Members met on April 26 and May 24 for a chicken dinner at the Table Rock Senior Center. Afterwards, people gathered to play Bingo with the help of Dane and Donovan Specht of the HTRS SPED class. Our meeting was held afterwards.
A game is planned at Table Rock Day and more help is needed. We discussed a float for the 75-year members to ride. We’ll also be giving a bike away.
A donation from us for a former cancer patient was discussed. There might be a match by Thrivent Lutheran Association and help applied from the Home Office. No decision was made.
We sponsored Bingo at the Table Rock Senior Center. The HTRS SPED students came to assist us by giving out prizes and helping some of the players.
Howard suggested getting some new Bingo cards. It will be reported on at the next meeting.
Howard and Deb will have the preschool and Head Start students come out and see their new lambs.
Members discussed the 50 and 75-year members this year. Their pins will be sent to them.
