June 2018

Members toured the new Ikea Warehouse complex and enjoyed a unique shopping experience after the lodge meeting in May. Meetings were held May 19 and June 8. There was a meet and greet luncheon with District 6 Director Bonita Fillmore on June 8 at Bruno’s European Restaurant.

In July, members will be touring a historic Frank Lloyd Wright house. Our next meeting is August 11 at McGrath’s Fish House in Federal Way, WA.

Fifty-seven pounds of groceries were collected for the Volunteers of America Everett Food Bank to help reduce the summertime food shortage. We are sponsoring a clothing drive to provide new underwear and socks for students in Thurston county. We are also sponsoring a school supply collection for the Northshore School District Backpacks for Kids Campaign.

We made a monetary donation to Northshore Performing Arts Center Foundation Youth Enrichment Program. They bring live performing art shows to local elementary schools.

May 2018

Members enjoyed an April outing to the Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum to celebrate an artist of Czech/Slovak ancestry. We watched a glass bowl-making demonstration and joined in the release of lady bugs in the Seattle Center gardens.

Members helped with a local community Easter egg hunt by filling eggs with candy, toys, and also donating supplies.
We volunteered at the Northshore Performing Arts Center (Bothell) shows during the 2017-2018 season. We encourage participation in the upcoming season - especially for the Christmas shows. We continue to handcraft notes and greeting cards as a fundraiser for the Northshore Theatre Guild. Those interested in paper crafting are invited to join.
The Czech-Slovak Genealogy Interest Group will meet on September 22 and November 3 in Kirkland, WA. If interested, please contact Marjorie Bianco at 425-483-4296 or email
bobv.home@comcast.net for details.
Congratulations to Brian Bianco for completing a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington. He has landed a new job at Boeing. Brian was also honored at a pre-graduation ceremony for military veterans, receiving a challenge coin and graduation stole.

Bonita Fillmore, District 6 Director, will be joining us for our June meeting at Bruno’s European Restaurant in Lakewood, WA.
