We were honored to have two 75-year pin recipients. Larry Skokan received his in April and George Skokan was presented his at the District Meeting on May 6.
Everyone enjoyed a potluck at the District Meeting in Verdigre, followed by the meeting. No. 53 had seven members present.
The next District Meeting will be held in Pischelville.
Members met April 8. Eight greeting cards were sent to members since our last meeting. Card fronts were collected and sent to the St. Jude’s Hospital.
The Niobrara Easter egg hunt was held in the Western Fraternal Life Hall due to weather. Three of our youth members created four games for the kids to play and win eggs. Sixty kids registered to win the bikes and had a great time. Winners of the 20” bikes were boys Liam Welch and Sophia Farrah.
Due to Mother Nature the District Meeting to be held in Verdigre was postponed until May 6.
Members met on December 11 at the home of Blanche Skokan. Elections were held with everyone staying in their current positions as follows: President Bob Skokan, Vice President Blanche Skokan, Secretary Frank Skokan, Treasurer Kerrol Skokan, and Correspondent Linda Wallick.
Bob and Kerrol Skokan attended the NE State Meeting in Farwell. Our youth sent out thank-you notes to veterans in November.
Members helped Larry Skokan celebrate his birthday on April 1. Kerrol Skokan presented Larry with an album of his younger years.
Three members attended the District 5 Meeting on April 9 in Spencer. Bob and Kerrol gave a report on the State Meeting where our lodge was presented a Level I Award.
On April 15, we helped folks from Niobrara host the Easter egg hunt at Sage Brothers Memorial Field. There were 107 kids registered for bikes and prizes. About 700 eggs were filled and hidden for the kids to find.
