One hundred and twenty years ago, Western Fraternal Life sprang to life as a result of Czechoslovakian immigrants desiring to share financial security and common ancestry bonds. Today, there are a lot of different life insurance providers, and not everyone shares the roots that provided the initial foundation of fraternal societies like Western. With that being said, you may wonder why you should choose Western over those other companies. Here are some things to consider:

Where the Money Goes

As a not-for-profit provider, Western’s profits go back to members and their communities – not to shareholders. Large commercial providers cannot say the same as they spend lavishly on executive salaries, offer stock in their companies, and invest heavily in business-to-consumer marketing efforts.

In contrast, Western spends with fraternalism in mind. For example, our Member Benefits offer member/community financial assistance, scholarships, and support for projects within communities across the United States. Did you know that over $62,000 has been given to members in need through special member benefit programs?* Also, in the last 20 years, Western has awarded $281,000 in college scholarships to members.* Finally, from 2010 to 2014, Western lodges have donated over $740,000 to charities.

In the last 20 years, Western awarded $281,000 in college scholarships for members.*

For information about different kinds of member benefits, please visit Member Benefits on our website at www.wflains.org.

Community Matters

Every year, members are estimated to contribute over 100,000 hours of volunteer service to their communities.* A large part of this service comes through the activities of its member-driven lodges. These lodges began with the communities of immigrants 120 years ago, but grew in diversity. One thing that has remained the same is that they care for each other and the community they live in.

As a member, you can support their efforts. Many lodges get involved in potlucks, fundraisers to help others, community celebrations, and socializing together with their neighbors. That kind of instant collaboration is lacking from commercial life insurance providers.

Service is Key

Two-thirds of consumers prefer to buy their life insurance from an insurance or financial professional.** There are good reasons for that preference – life insurance is an important decision to make, and you may have questions about it that cannot be easily answered if you choose a commercial provider, particularly one that offers website-driven quotes and resources rather than real people.

In contrast, Western agents are here to serve the members during the sale and long afterward. Many top agents at Western know their members personally and have established roots in their communities.

In addition, Home Office and staff continue to provide the resources you may need. The staff is very knowledgeable with many cumulative years of experience. Answers to your questions are delivered in a timely and caring manner.

Several agents and Home Office staff are also active in lodge activities. While they generally participate in the same capacity as any other member, agents are also available to come talk to your lodge at a meeting regarding products or assistance with questions. To arrange for an agent to speak with you personally, or with your lodge as a whole, please call Retention Sales and Marketing Specialist Martin Menke at 877-935-2467 ext. 145 or e-mail info@wflains.org.

A Grade Above

Western offers competitive life insurance product options. These options are on-par with what you will see offered from a commercial competitor.
Western offers term and whole life products with the flexibility to suit your needs. We take the time to understand your individual situation so that you will have the coverage you require at a price you can afford.

Further, Western has been in business for 120-years and is a financially-reliable provider.

To learn more about Western, visit our website at www.wflains.org. To learn more about what lodges in your area are doing, guests are often welcome at meetings and events so feel free to inquire with the one nearest you. To become a member, talk to a Western agent by calling 877-935-2467 or emailing info@wflains.org.
