There are three types
of rewards in a career with wfla:
Financial Rewards
Personal Satisfaction
Professional Growth
Financial
Rewards
The financial
rewards of a wfla
Agent's career are unlimited. The key thing that
an agent should remember is that he/she gets paid
based upon his/her production. You, the agent,
are in complete control of how much income you
earn.
wfla makes a significant
investment in new Associate Agents by providing a
salary plus commission arrangement for those
candidates without prior experience. It allows
you to earn an income while you are learning
about the industry and the business. Combining
this feature with the bonus program, the
Associate Agent Contract is quite lucrative. The
Agency Manager will have a detailed discussion
with you concerning the compensation plan before
you are offered a Full-Time Contract.
For those
Agents who perform well and attain certain
production levels, wfla provides annual trips to
such exotic places as the Bahamas, the Caribbean
or Mexico.
Your Agency
Manager will go through a breakdown of the
business and our expectations of you, so that you
can gather a better understanding of what a new
Associate Agent can reasonably expect to earn in
his/her first year.

Personal
Satisfaction
When Agents are
asked what they find most rewarding about their
career, one of the most frequent answers is the
personal satisfaction that comes from helping
people protect their families and their futures.
An Agent provides a service that is matched by
only a few professionals. Similar to a doctor, an
Agent helps people deal with problems that can
have serious effects on an individual and a
family. Financial health and well-being are no
less important than physical health. There is no
more satisfying feeling than knowing you were
able to make it possible for a family to achieve
its goals in spite of the devastating emotional
and financial impact of the loss of a loved one.
For most professionals, providing life insurance
is not just a job, but a life's work to be proud
of. Few careers offer the satisfaction of knowing
you made a real difference in people's lives.

Professional
Growth
Another
positive feature of the wfla
Agent's career that creates satisfaction is
knowing that there is the opportunity for
continued professional growth and development.
Early in your career, emphasis is on the basics.
Later on, there are seminars and meetings devoted
to education in more advanced topics. Outside of wfla, there are professional
development programs that lead to degrees in
insurance and financial consultation--Fraternal
Insurance Counsellor (FIC) and Fraternal
Insurance Counsellor Fellow (FICF), Chartered
Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial
Consultant (ChFC), and Life Underwriters Training
Council Fellow (LUTCF).
FIC/FICF
The Fraternal
Insurance Counsellor (FIC) program consists of
three sections: Part I: Basic, Part II:
Intermediate, and Part III: Advanced. The
Agent earns the FIC designation upon the
completion of exams in each area. This education
provides a better understanding of fraternalism
and service to clients in the field of individual
life sales.
Graduate
courses are also available to continue to expand
learning in the areas of estate planning,
business insurance and financial planning
concepts. At the completion of these courses, the
agents earn the prestigious Fraternal Insurance
Counselors Fellow (FICF) designation.
CLU/ChFC
The Chartered Life
Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial
Consultant (ChFC) programs consist of a series of
courses in general areas such as insurance law,
income tax law, employee group benefits, estate
planning, retirement needs, etc., and specific
insurance and financial security areas such as
business insurance, employee pensions, and
investments. The courses can be taken on a
self-study basis or in a classroom setting. There
are a total of ten courses required for each
designation or thirteen if both designations are
attained. Successful completion of the
course work requires passing a series of
standardized tests. wfla reimburses Agents who
successfully pass courses and encourages all to
pursue their degree. It is strongly recommended
that you begin your progress toward the CLU
and/or ChFC designations early in your career.
LUTCF
The Life
Underwriters Training Council also offers courses
aimed at professional education and development
that are credited toward a LUTCF designation.
These courses are reimbursed by wfla and cover such areas as
Business Insurance, Multi-Lines, Disability,
Personal Lines, Financial Planning, and Advanced
Sales.
MDRT
In addition, there
are industry associations that provide
fellowships and education. The Million-Dollar
Round Table is the premier industry association.
Members qualify by attaining a predetermined
commission level in life insurance, disability
insurance, and annuity sales during a given year.
Educational programs, local and national
meetings, and marketing materials are some of the
outstanding benefits of belonging to MDRT.
