I am a strong believer in the "Fraternal Advantage." Belonging to a fraternal organization allows many unique opportunities. I believe it to be imperative to make the time to support the activities that Western sponsors. As a member, you can get involved with your lodge and celebrate culture, advocate for charities, and make a difference.

I am an agent who understands this value on a personal level, as I am active with my lodge, Verna Laska No. 108 in Denmark, WI. I especially enjoy the Adopt-A-Highway program where I lead other members to clear up the sides of a roadway and help make a difference for the environment. For fun, my lodge enjoys the annual fall Booyah party, where members and non-members gather together to enjoy some great food and conversation. Like many other lodges, we also turn out for Join Hands Day. I like to help the local boy, girl, and cub scouts get together with our members to clear weeds and clean up the caves at Maribel Caves County Park. It’s a great opportunity to work with the youth in our community and enjoy the outdoors.

If you haven’t been to a lodge event in a while, I encourage you to go to one this year. Talk to your lodge’s officers about meeting dates and activities. Many members really enjoy the positive impact their actions have, and also enjoy the opportunity to make new friends. That’s the difference that Western can offer.
